Clark Outdoor Designs builds, remodels, and resurfaces custom inground pools for homeowners across North Dallas. We install pools, spas, fountains, tanning ledges, pool coping, patios, and landscaping, and more.
An inground pool in your backyard is sure to be a favorite among family and friends. But installing a pool is also one of the best investments you can make into your home; both increasing its value and making it more attractive to potential buyers.
Your pool will become the centerpiece of your backyard paradise -and it’s a major investment- which is why you should work with one of the best pool installation companies in Dallas for your project.
As a Dallas inground pool contractor, we’ve built our share of pools all across the metroplex and you can be sure that every project will follow this same process.
Each inground pool construction project begins with a 3D rendering, so that we’re all on the same page and the pool we deliver is exactly what you expect. To ensure accuracy during this process we also install foam frame boards to establish the layout and determine the elevation in each area of the pool.

The process begins with us taking very precise measurements followed by big machines showing up to dig big holes in your yard. After excavation we install helical piles deep into the earth; an extra step that provides ensures integrity and prevent cracking.
Fixers create a cage of steel rebar to the top of the helical piles that serves as the skeleton of the eventual pool, covering steps, ledges, and other design elements. With the steel in place, we lay the interior plumbing, electrical, skimmers, and any water features, and protecting them for the duration of the time it takes to fill the frame with gunite.
The next step is pouring gunite across the base of the frame and then “shooting” it onto the walls. A mixture of sand, cement, and water is pumped or ‘shot’ through hose at high pressure onto the steel frame.
The freshly poured pool is allowed to cure to increase durability and prevent any cracks from forming. We install drip lines to keep the pool surface moist throughout the curing process and pay special attention to additions like spas which might dry out too quickly.
Once the concrete shell has cured completely, the coping around the edge of the pool and the adjacent decking (concrete, tile, wood, etc) is installed prior to the plaster.
Pool plaster is applied to the outer shell, forming a smooth inner surface which is resistant to water and weather exposure.
Finally, the pool is filled with water and the pool equipment is started, along with a several week regimen of chemical treatments to get the conditions of the water suitable for swimming.
The process of installing an inground pool typically requires anywhere from about 60 days for the pool itself, to much longer depending on the decking, upgrades, and other features you choose to add. It also depends on factors beyond our mutual control, like permits and the weather. Typically it takes:
The cost of an inground pool depends on several factors like breadth, length, and depth, the materials used in construction, and the finishing touches you want, like edging, landscaping, water features for the pool, and so on.
Other considerations include any other features you want to include, like water features, decorative elements, tile, pavers and patio extensions, edging, and landscaping.

Crack Repair
Concrete pools develop cracks over time, especially inground pools in Dallas, Texas. Small cracks can be patched easily, but larger structural cracks might require more extensive pool repair techniques.
Replastering
The plaster coating inside a concrete pool provides a waterproof layer and a smooth surface but the plaster degrades slowly over time. Replastering involves chipping out the old plaster and applying a new coat to ensure the pool remains waterproof and looks great too.
Tile Repair or Replacement
Tiles in concrete pools can crack, become loose, or fall off entirely. Repairing or replacing damaged tiles in a timely fashion, is crucial to maintaining the pool’s integrity and saving the concrete underneath from water damage.
Coping Repair
Coping is the material above the tile line that caps an inground pool shell wall. It can become loose, crack, or deteriorate over time and needs to be repaired or replaced to preserve the structure and appearance of the pool.
Leak Detection and Repair
Concrete pools develop leaks for a variety of reasons, including cracks in the pool body, plumbing problems, or failures in the sealing around fittings. Detecting and repairing leaks early is essential to prevent water loss and damage to your pool and the surrounding area.
Deck Resurfacing
If you have a deck around your concrete pool, it will eventually show signs of wear such as cracking, flaking, or settling. Resurfacing the deck can help prevent accidents and will improve the overall appearance of the pool.
Expansion Joint Replacement
Expansion joints allow for the movement of the pool and deck due to temperature changes or shifting soil without causing damage. Over time, these joints may need to be replaced to continue to accommodate movement and prevent cracking.
Acid Washing
If a concrete pool develops stubborn stains or algae problems, an acid wash may be most effective treatment. First the pool is drained and then an acid solution is used to strip a thin layer of plaster, exposing fresh material.
Chemical Stain Removal
Metals and minerals in pool water can cause discoloration over time. Removing these stains often involves chemical treatments or, in severe cases, may require sanding and replastering.
The length of time it takes to fix any problems that arise with your inground pool depend entirely on the severity of those issues.
Draining and washing a pool might only take a day or two but resurfacing, or repairing cracks, and more significant repairs may take several weeks.
We work as quickly as possible, of course, but the largest portion of the time it takes to perform pool repairs is the time spent waiting for patches, new concrete, tiles, etc to set and cure.

The cost of repairing an inground pool depends on the nature of the repairs that are required. If the problem is small, like a minor plumbing issue, repairs may be quick and painless. However, a pool is a complicated piece of equipment and significant repairs can be costly and time-consuming.
Also, any issues that degrade the performance of your pool are almost certainly also doing damage to your pool over time. Repairs that seem costly now can grow to become major expenses even a year or two later.
But your situation is going to be different from everyone else. We’ll need to actually visit your location and assess the situation ourselves before we can provide you the cost to repair your inground pool.

“We called Clark Outdoor Designs and Bailey came out to give us an estimate. Did some research and looked at some of his teams work and knew they were going to be the ones for the job. Two days and they were done. Such attention to detail and the finished product is amazing. Only wish I would have chosen them for the fence as well.”

“We had a good experience with Clark Outdoor Designs. They provided computer images of what the final result would look like – we have worked with several larger contractors and no one has ever provided renderings like that so it made a difference in our choice. He was patient in answering our questions and re-working the estimate until we landed on exactly what we wanted.”
