Landscaping, Retaining Wall & Stone Paver Patio In Frisco, TX

Landscaping & Retaining Wall Photos

This Frisco home had a big challenge: a steep, higher grade berm along the neighbor’s yard that pushed against the fence line. We built a clean, strong retaining wall to support it safely and make it look intentional.

The new structure blended right into the landscape. We used natural stone to keep the space warm and grounded, while adding tiered beds to bring color and texture. What started as a slope turned into a showpiece with character and function all in one. It solved the grading issue and created new usable space for plants and décor. Now the backyard feels open, balanced, and complete.

Landscaping & Retaining Wall Project In Frisco

This project covered the whole property, front to back. We reimagined the entryway, the side path, and the backyard to work together as one flowing design.

Front beds now have hand-laid stone edging that guides your eye up the concrete stairs toward the front door. Around the side, a permeable walkway with concrete pavers set in decomposed gravel keeps rainwater moving instead of pooling near the foundation.
We also added a French drain system that ties the whole layout together.

In the back, dual retaining walls shape the yard and frame the space beautifully. They support the higher berm and keep the fence line stable while giving the yard a tiered look. Built-in bench seating adds a cozy place to sit and relax.

A herringbone stone patio connects to the living room doors. Fresh sod ties everything together, softening the look and adding that finished touch you notice right away.

Front Yard Landscaping

We planted new drought-resistant shrubs and accent plants in the front beds. Each sits behind stone edging that separates greenery from the walkways and driveway cleanly.

Everything was chosen to stay green through North Texas weather swings.
The entrance now feels brighter and more welcoming year-round.

Permeable Hardscaping

The walkway on this property does double duty. We used concrete pavers set into decomposed gravel for a clean, modern look that also helps the ground breathe.

Rainwater drains through instead of pooling, which keeps the soil under the foundation steady and safe. It’s practical, but it also looks awesome with the subtle color mix in the stone.

We tucked a French drain underneath the path to make sure heavy rains move out fast. No standing water, no muddy messes, and no stress when those North Texas storms roll in.

Dual Retaining Walls

The dual retaining walls are the real stars in back. One supports the neighbor’s higher berm and fence line, while the other shapes out a garden bed and built-in bench seating. Together they create balance across the space and add depth where there used to be a slope.

The curved sections let the landscaping flow naturally. We used a large, chiseled capstone that is a sharp and stylish contrast to the fence wall behind it that anchors the look.

Herringbone Stone Patio

By the living room doors, we hand-laid a herringbone pattern in stone pavers. It gives the area a classic look that matches the home’s feel without overpowering it.

On one side, we installed fresh sod; on the other, the patio steps right out from the wall’s curve. The transition feels smooth, natural, and complete.

At night, soft lighting makes it shine without stealing the show. The pattern adds rhythm underfoot and draws people out from the living room naturally.
