When it comes to pouring concrete, there are several considerations which must be planned and executed carefully to guarantee a successful project and a lasting outcome.
The pouring process involves several steps -from site preparation to final touches- all of which can impact the outcome of your concrete project.
Site Preparation: Before installing the concrete, we have to clear and level the area where the concrete will be set, carefully removing all any debris or vegetation. Then the concrete installation is laid and marked according to the design. This ensures every detail of the project is addressed and the final product will be perfect. Forms are installed around the perimeter of the marked area to contain the concrete and create the desired shape and size.
Base Construction
A base of gravel or crushed stone is added to the prepared area to facilitate proper drainage and prevent water from pooling beneath the concrete.
The base is then compacted using specialized equipment to create a stable and level foundation for the concrete.
A moisture barrier, such as plastic sheeting, is placed over the compacted base to prevent water from seeping into the concrete and causing damage.
Pouring Concrete
The concrete is mixed to the correct consistency, ensuring that it is neither too wet nor too dry for optimal strength and durability.
The mixed concrete is then poured into the prepared forms, filling the entire area to the desired depth.
Tools, such as rakes and screeds, are used to spread the concrete evenly and create a smooth, level surface.
Finishing Concrete
While the concrete is still wet, the desired textures or patterns are applied to the surface using various tools and techniques.
Trowels, brushes, or stamps can be used to create a range of finishes, from smooth and polished to textured and decorative.
The concrete is then allowed to cure properly, which can take several days, to achieve maximum strength and durability.
Final Touches
Once the concrete has cured, a sealer is applied to the surface to protect it from weather damage, stains, and other potential hazards.
The forms are removed from around the edges of the concrete, and the surrounding area is cleaned up to create a neat and tidy appearance.
A final inspection is conducted to ensure that the concrete installation meets the highest standards of quality and durability, providing you with a beautiful and long-lasting outdoor living space.
The cost of pouring concrete depends greatly on where the cement is going. Patios and walkways require different preparation, construction, and detailing than structural installations like pillars, outdoor kitchens, countertop surfaces, and so on.
Expenses vary based on factors such as the the cost of excavating, the dimensions of the paved or built area, and any additional materials in the design for aesthetic reasons, like visual treatments, and other customizations.

He has also been around to answer a few follow-up questions and add some details to our outdoor kitchen after completion. Highly recommend!”

“Clark Outdoor Designs did an amazing job on my outdoor kitchen. They were very easy to work with and were proactive with giving us timelines and schedules . All self induced change orders were very fair. No change orders that were not self induced. Would recommend and will use again.”

“These guys are incredible. Two days and they were done. Such attention to detail and the finished product is amazing. They even went above and beyond and had their gutter guy come reroute a downspout that I had been trying to get the pool company to do for a month.
