Front & Backyard Remodel In Highland Park, TX

Hardscaping & Landscaping In Highland Park

Working with our partners at DLandscape remodeled the front and backyard as one project. This Highland Park home sits close to SMU, so the outside needed to feel calm and polished.

Up front, we built concrete steps and pavers. We added tejas gravel and a small seating spot. New beds went in with shrubs and flowers, bringing a fresh look to the entrance. Out back, the space is more serene and social. We used lush-looking artificial turf, then set stone pavers into it in an alternating pattern that catches the eye. A circular gas fire pit anchors the hangout area, and the yard feels permanently comfortable and relaxing.

Outdoor Living Collaboration With DLandscape

We teamed up with DLandscape on this full remodel. We refreshed both yards so the look stays tied together.

Cream and gray tones let the home set the stage. The old front landscaping was removed and new beds were added. We also updated the stairs and added concrete pavers by the entry.

In the back, we set a modern metal sculpture as a focal point. A round gas fire pit sits just in front of it with seating on stone pavers. Along the fence, DLandscape planted hollies, Japanese maples, and ground cover. Some climbers were added too, so the fence can soften over time.

We also improved the outdoor kitchen area. We raised it up, then added granite counters and Lueders caps on the wall. A bocce ball court went in along the side yard strip, turning the extra space into something usable and fun.

Modern Style Gas Fire Pit

We placed a round concrete gas fire pit right in the center zone, making the backyard feel active, even on quiet nights.

Stone pavers sit under the chairs, set into the turf. A tall metal sculpture stands behind the seating area, so there’s a strong accent to balance the space.

Near the house, we updated the outdoor kitchen. We raised the base, then added granite countertops and matching brick so it feels tied in. We capped the retaining wall with Lueders stone, which gives the edge a clean finish.

Off to the side, we added a bocce ball court in that narrow strip to put that narrow strip of side yard to use in a fun way.

Stone Paver Patio

We inlaid stone pavers into the artificial turf in an alternating pattern. That small change adds character without making the yard feel busy.

Behind the fire pit, the metal sculpture helps frame the scene. It gives the backyard a “this is the spot” feeling, especially at night.

And the pavers subtly divide the seating area from the rest of the yard and, with the metal accent piece, create a unique centerpiece around the gas fire pit.

Front Yard Landscaping

We rebuilt the front approach so it feels clean and simple. Concrete steps and pavers lead you right to the door, with tejas gravel nearby to keep the look light and drainage managed.

New beds line the house and entry. We planted flowers and grasses for spring color, plus shrubs that hold shape.

Tiered walls and stone planters help the yard feel finished. As the grade changes, this keeps it clean, open, and easy to access.

Backyard Landscaping

We swapped the old lawn feel for a lush turf look. Stone pavers were set into the turf to make a seating zone.

Along the fence, we planted hollies and Japanese maples for height. Ground cover and climbing plants fill in lower and help soften the fence line. Over time the yard will start to feel nestled away in a private retreat from the city.
