This Keller backyard wraps around the house with green grass on three sides, so the hardscape feels framed by a sprawling yard. The patio takes up about half the space. It surrounds an inground pool and extends under a large, round pergola. That pergola covers the outdoor kitchen, bar, and a hangout spot with bar seating.
We retiled the pool and updated the original, weathered coping and repaired the older concrete patio, and finished it with an overlay to hide cracks and make the look consistent.
For the surface of the pool and spa, we mixed natural stone with stone veneer. That blend keeps the rustic feel, but adds an upscale edge that fits the home.
This project was a full reset of the backyard. We resurfaced the existing concrete patio, rebuilt the pergola, and upgraded finishes throughout the space.
Older materials were weathered and damaged and so we took the opportunity to add modern, upscale treatments like a clean overlay surface, and new cladding, where it would have the greatest visual impact.
We also added landscaping and accents to break up the wide view. It gives the yard more character, so your eyes have more places to land when you look out from inside. Hosting and entertaining in this space will be excellent, with tons of room for guests, and beautiful views in every direction.

The spillover spa sits up above the pool, with steps that cascade down into the water. To get the right height, we built a stacked natural limestone retaining wall around the spa area, then topped it with the same travertine coping and matching steps.
We used a rounded bullnose edge on the coping. That soft curve feels good on hands and legs, and it adds a warm contrast against the gray overlay surface nearby. You still get that rustic vibe, but with a more high-end finish.
We also brought in landscaping and small decorative touches along the wall. It adds texture and a little extra height, so the spa area feels like its own feature, especially once the lights come on at night.

The round pergola was already there, but it was under stress and needed repair. Over time, it started to twist a bit from the way it was built, so that had to be addressed before any other upgrades could take place.
We reinforced the frame and replaced the supports with steel poles. Then we wrapped them in cast stone, which gives that strong, upscale look that still feels subtle. It also makes the pergola feel like the main feature, not an extra.
We added power and lighting so the space works at night and fans overhead to help on hot days, and the polycarbonate cover gives weather protection while allowing light through.

The old coping was worn and cracked, so it needed to be replaced. Once we were updating the deck already, it made sense to choose a coping material that lifts the whole pool visually.
We recommended travertine because it plays well with the rest of the stone. The cream tones add a clean accent against the more rustic, neutral base already in the yard, and the result was a pool that looks high-end and deliberate.
We ran that coping across the spa as well, so it all ties together. That border gives a clear, neat break between water and patio, and it looks great when the sun hits it late in the day.
